Da Last Word (DLW) podcast with host, Rusty Byrd, welcomes key members of the minor league basketball team, the Park City Dreamers, of the East Coast Basketball League (ECBL). The team is based out of Manassas Park/Prince William County and plays their home basketball games at Potomac High School in Dumfries, VA.  The show was blessed to have Owner/CEO, Jeremy Coleman, Head Coach Bryan Carroll, and Team Captain Emmanuel "Manny" Miller on to discuss all thing Dreamers.

In only their second year of existence, the Park City Dreamers are on the verge of making the ECBL playoffs for the first time.  In addition to winning basketball games, the Dreamers are a dedicated team of innovators, mentors, and local advocates united by a single mission: to turn local potential into lasting impact.  The leadership team brings together diverse expertise and a shared passion for the Park City community, ensuring that every dreamer has the resources, guidance, and support needed to reach their peak.  As an organization, they don't just envision a brighter future - they are building it, one connection at time.

In this episode, Rusty discusses how the players are selected, practice, and developed.  We learn about of the amazing things that the organization is doing in the community such as an anti-bullying campaign; financial literacy; Dreamers against hunger; and free physicals. We also learn how players are selected, practice, and developed for the next level of basketball and life. We discuss the guests background in and out of basketball as well as their favorite movies/tv shows; and much, much more.  

We are also proud to note that for the online broadcast on YouTube and Prince William Sportz & Entertainment, DLW host, Rusty Byrd is the color analyst along with play-by-play man, Justin Richards.

Episode 14 DLW: Da Last Word on the East Coast Basketball League's (ECBL) Park City Dreamers
"Da Last Word" Sport Podcast host, Rusty Byrd, was live at Lake Braddock Secondary School (LBSS) on Saturday May 9, 2026, for the annual Hall of Fame Invitational.  This amazing track meet is held each spring with a special induction ceremony on the infield to honor some of the greatest Track and Field athletes in school history.

This year, the LBSS 2026 Class of honorees included Leah Moore Byrd, Rachel Fasana, Janai Hill, Samatha Schwers, and Courtney Singleton. It was also very special that legendary 13- time State Champion Coach; 3-time Washington Post All Met Coach of the Year; LBSS Hall of Fame Member and school alumni, Coach Bob Digby was present and handed out the Hall of Fame plaques to his great former athletes.

This event was even more special for DLW host, Rusty Byrd, because Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Leah Moore Byrd is his lovely wife.

Da Last Word (DLW) sports podcast with host, Rusty Byrd, welcomes six Bethel High School alumni legends to celebrate the life of VHSL Hall of Fame football and track coaching legend, Dennis S. Kozlowski.

Affectionately known as "Coach Koz", he was an English teacher along with being a legendary football/track coach and athletic director at Bethel High School in Hampton, VA from 1968 to 2000.  Koz came to be the "Architect of BHS Success" in athletics. Through the years, he led the Bruins in 1974, 1976, 1992 to win AAA State Football Championships and in 1975, 1984, and 1986 to Track State Championships.  As the school's athletic director from 1983 to 2000, Bethel teams won 21 Peninsula District titles and 13 state team championships. Koz coached several NFL players and too numerous to count college football and track athletes.  A few of the notable athletes he coached are NBA Hall of Famer, Allen Iverson, College of William & Mary Head Football Coach, Mike London, as well as former NFL Super Bowl Champions, Shaun Gayle and Todd Kelly.

In this episode, Rusty is joined by Mike London, FCS National Championship winner at his alma mater the University of Richmond; Mike Dunn, QB of Bethel's first football state championship; and All-American QB at Duke University; Teko Wynder, College Basketball All-American who was drafted by the Philadelphia 76'ers; Daron Fullwood, Naval Academy football and Amazon Executive; William Washington, legendary track and football coach in the Peninsula District; and Kelly Gardner, former college football player and High School Administrator in Fairfax County. 

Rusty, along with his fellow Bethel Bruin athletes, talk about this amazing man, coach, mentor, leader, and friend to many.  Coach Koz was known for his intense "tough love" style and dedication to helping student-athletes succeed, with many seeing him as a vital mentor.  He could also be very funny and enjoyed telling stories.

Episode 13 DLW: Da Last Word celebrates the life Bethel HS football/track Coach Dennis Kozlowski.
Da Last Word (DLW) podcast with host, Rusty Byrd, welcomes the Potomac Shores Middle School (PSMS) Basketball Varsity Boys Head Coach, Marlon Marshall, and his brother JV Head Coach, Mark Marshall, to discuss the school's historic run of going 100-0 since the school opened in 2021.  In five seasons, the varsity and junior varsity programs have both gone 50-0 to claim supremacy in Prince William County School Middle School basketball.

In this episode, Rusty and the Marshall brothers, discuss this amazing fifth season for the PSMS program and what it meant not only for this year's players, but also for alumni players of the basketball program.  We also get into how the teams are selected, practice, and developed for the next level of either PSMS varsity or high school basketball after the 8th grade.

In addition to talking about this season, we learn how the program got its start and how each season the players and coaches worked hard to not be the first team to lose a game.  We discuss the coaches background as former athletes and their experience in coaching youth and high school sports.  We also find out about Coach Marlon and Coach Mark's hobbies; favorite movies/tv shows; and much, much more.  You do not want to miss this episode!

Episode 12 DLW: Da Last Word on Potomac Shores MS Boys Basketball winning 100 straight games.
Da Last Word (DLW) with Rusty Byrd and Da Bullpen break everything down regarding the James Madison University (JMU) Dukes making the College Football Playoffs.  

After the #12 JMU Dukes (12-1) defeated the Troy Trojans (8-5) by a score of 31-17 in the Sun Belt Conference Championship football game, they made history by getting into the 12 team College Football Playoffs against the #5 Oregon Ducks.

To help Rusty break it down, Da Bullpen is loaded with talent.  Rusty is joined by co-host Jason Sterling, a JMU grad who is an expert on high school and college football in Virginia; former Dukes tight end and JMU football Hall of Famer, Marvin Brown; former Dukes offensive lineman and President of the JMU Black Alumni Chapter, John Mitchell; and former 4-year starter at Defensive Back, John Stein.

In this episode, we discuss JMU moving up from the FCS level of college football to the FBS level in only four seasons. We also talk about the most recent JMU football coaches, Curt Cignetti and Bob Chesney, along with the hiring of new Head Coach Billy Napier from the University of Florida.  However, the meat of our conversation is about this historic 2025 season with JMU winning the Sunbelt Conference championship and making the CFP.

Episode 10 DLW: Da Last Word - VHSL Football Class 1-6 State Championship games review.
Da Last Word Podcast host, Rusty Byrd, was live at JMU on December 13, 2025, for the VHSL Class 5 State Championship game between Maury HS and Highland Springs HS.  The Maury Commodores won 25-7 for their third consecutive state championship victory.

Maury HS Head Football Coach Dyrri McCain has now won four Class 5 State Championships in the past seven seasons.
